The Just Recruitment Group are currently looking for an Assistant Project Manager for our client, a leading, multi-professional consultancy practice, in Chelmsford. They are a small but well-established team working predominantly on public sector contracts in Essex (school refurbishment/new builds, council-owned leisure facilities etc.)

The emphasis on this role is to support the Senior Project Managers in undertaking all necessary duties as required to lead project teams, ensure successful delivery of the project objectives and will see you working on a variety of new-build and refurbishment schemes, mostly education and local government projects.

Typically you will:

  • Support the PM team within a number of typical project management functions: change management, co-ordination of the design process, help to oversee and manage the control of the project (both pre and post contract) and manage financial expenditure throughout any appropriate RIBA stages.
  • Assist the PM team and participate in, risk, value and opportunities management, including supporting the facilitation of workshops attended by the client, stakeholders, and project team, including contractors, sub-contractors and the supply chain
  • Assist the PM team to prepare and issue reports including, but not limited to, preparation of Project Execution Plans (PEP), Strategy Reports, Risk Registers, Progress Reports etc.
  • The role will involve frequent travelling and will require attending various sites as necessary.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • HNC/HND or a construction related degree
  • Some client-side or consultancy experience in a compatible role (either as Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor or Building Surveyor) - desirable
  • Membership of a construction related professional body (such as RICS, CIOB, etc.) is desirable, as well as the intention to progress to full membership status
  • An appropriate understanding of IT and related software, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Project
  • Full UK driving licence
