Just Recruitment is recruiting for a Procurement & Logistics Officer to join a manufacturer based in Witham, Essex — on a contract basis for 12 months.

This is a highly cross-functional role, requiring a minimum of 3+ years’ experience and a strong understanding of Customer Service, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Finance, Production Planning, Supply Chain, Stock Management, and lead-time control—ideally gained in a high-volume environment.

Duties include:

  • Using the existing systems to accurately order the required volume of products using sales and forecasting availability.
  • Monitoring unavailability and wastage. Contribute actively to reducing both and meeting targets.
  • Understanding the importance of 100% availability, including seasonal and promotional activities, and investigating all instances of non- and short-delivery to determine, with the supplier, an agreed plan of action to prevent recurrence.
  • Actively develop and maintain a professional, respectful, friendly, and honest relationship with all suppliers and other team members. keeping up to date with the latest developments for all suppliers.
  • Maintain a vehicle file for all company vehicle documentation, including V5, contract hire agreements and any other relevant documentation.
  • Monitoring and managing driver utilisation of the fleetchecker vehicle inspection app and reporting functionality. Organise defect rectification in a timely manner.
  • Downloading and monitoring all drivers' tachographs, the vehicle download data, sending to an external agency for checking and monitoring all drivers' hours in line with the legal requirements, EU driving legislation, Great British driving rules and working time directive to ensure that the business and driving staff operate within the legal framework.
  • Ensuring all dart charges, congestion charges and other tolls are promptly settled to negate any ongoing unforeseen charges.
  • Managing all aspects of Drivers' HR requirements, holiday, sick days, appraisal, and training requirements for CPC compliance.

Skills required include:

  • A good, effective, and proactive communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Numeracy, statistical and reporting skills with the ability to analyse, interpret and manage information, data and trends.
  • Collaborative approach to working with others.
  • Experience in capacity/forecasting modelling and planning.
  • Experience and knowledge of fleet management, logistics planning in accordance with legislative constraints.
  • Knowledge of Driving Laws and Tachographs/ Infringement legislation.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.
