Main Purpose:

The role holder will be accountable for the cost management of projects, from inception through to close out. The role involves ensuring all operations are carried out to control costs, maximise value, minimise future liabilities and maintain the required standard of quality and safety.

Responsibilities of Job

Costing Jobs

  • Listing materials required
  • Obtaining price from suppliers
  • Collate information on suitable spread sheet
  • Follow through to won or lost status on quotations

Ordering for Projects

  • Place orders for projects, making sure that orders have client and project reference details accurately entered
  • Track and follow up orders for estimated delivery dates
  • Ensure rebates are obtained and claim process in place
  • Stock taking and ordering replacement stock and materials

In-life and Post Projectundefined

  • Collating dayworks information
  • Tracking labour and materials by project
  • Monthly reporting and analysis on project profitability
  • Provide reports on actual costs v estimate and identify underlying reasons for any variance
  • Work with accounts to match and align supplier and client invoices to projects, raising invoices as needed

Ad Hoc

  • Process and business improvement to ensure efficient and effective working
  • Back up for small works administration
  • Invoicing and assistance with monthly valuations

Person Specification

  • Previous experience of the Construction Industry ideally with knowledge of the heating and plumbing industries.
  • Excellent numeracy and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Extensive experience in estimation and cost analysis
  • Ability to use spreadsheets to interpret and collate financial data
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills, with ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in a team but also able to work on own initiative
  • Ability to adapt and challenge
  • Confident communicator with all levels of personnel

  • On time invoicing to clients
  • No delays on stock for projects
  • Project costing accuracy and profitability
  • Monthly management accounts reporting by 21st of the following month
