Just Recruitment is delighted to be assisting with a well-regarded, large food production company based on the outskirts of Bury St Edmund's, they are looking to add a Quality Supervisor to their existing team.

The role is responsible for the daily supervision and efficient running of the QA department and all related quality control functions. With a responsibility for ensuring staff compliance to the company Hygiene and Health & Safety policies, as well as any additional tasks deemed necessary to achieve this.

Duties include:

  • Supervisory control of the QC operatives.
  • Organisation of the department according to staffing levels.
  • Liaise with the Quality Manager in relation to fulfilling departmental requirements.
  • Assist with the management and control of all aspects of the quality management system relevant to all QC activities and functions, and ensure all customer specific requirements are adhered to and maintained.
  • To bring to the attention of management any issue that could compromise food safety, quality or legality.
  • Assist with the issue of new or revised QC documentation and procedures within the department, and ensure all daily QC records are completed and signed off prior to archiving.
  • Support the Quality Manager and the QC team on any quality related issues.
  • Support the Quality Manager with new production runs and factory trials as required.
  • Ensure the QC room and Laboratory are kept clean and tidy.
  • Management of sample requests from sales and new product development.
  • Ensure the training and competence of staff is monitored and upheld.
  • Assist with conducting departmental audits and pro-actively liaise with production management on any related issues.
  • Assist with customer complaint and foreign body investigations.
  • Assist with customer and third party audit preparation, and participate where required.
  • Cooperate with Management, Supervisory Staff and other operatives.
  • Ensure staff compliance to the company Hygiene and Health & Safety policies.
  • To perform a wide range of QC activities and functions throughout the manufacturing process, and in different areas of the factory, including the routine inspection and verification of products according to procedure, against specification and to quality standards. Including(not exhaustive) internal audits testing and swabbing.
  • Conduct product inspections off site as and when required.
  • Accurately record data relating to product conformity and in a timely manner.
  • General administrative tasks for the department including filing and archiving records.
  • To bring to the attention of management any issue that could compromise food safety, quality or legality.
  • Report any Health and Safety hazards within working areas.
  • Ensure damaged equipment is not used and any defects are reported to engineers immediately.
  • Fully co-operate with site management and the workforce.
  • To have a flexible approach to work in order to meet changing business requirements.
  • Carry out all duties as deemed necessary by managerial or supervisory staff to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the factory.
  • Compliance to Health and Safety rules at all times.
  • Compliance to company policies, practices and standard operating procedures.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience working within a fast moving food manufacturing environment within a quality/ technical role.
  • Intermediate Food Hygiene qualification or time served experience.
  • Good IT, literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Confident talking to auditors and customers.
  • To take a consistent and fair approach when implementing company policies and procedures.
  • Keen eye for detail and accurate data recording skills.
  • Good level of written and spoken English.
  • Ability to prioritise and multi task.
