Just Recruitment is working with a well-established organisation, based in Clacton-on-Sea, looking to add a Quality Inspector to their long-standing team.

This role is based within the engineering sector.

The key purpose of the role is to verify product quality against specification and customer requirements, also carrying out Health and Safety monitoring as detailed by the senior team.

Key duties include:

  • To perform quality related duties as delegated by the Works Manager and to work to the Company Quality & H&S Policy and Procedures
  • To verify that product received from suppliers and sub-contractors is correct to the order and specification
  • To check first off samples from production set ups and to endorse the relevant paperwork upon acceptance as given authority for production to commence
  • To ensure correct gauging and drawings are specified on the works order and that the gauging used is in calibration.
  • To conduct periodic inspection of all production processes and to record checks on Production QC Sheets.
  • Authority to stop production where non-conforming work is found and to inform the manufacturing section supervisor as quickly as possible.
  • To identify non-conforming material, record same, and ensure that it is segregated or removed from the production line as soon as possible.
  • To assist in identifying the causes of non-conformance and to liaise with departments to correct these causes.
  • To ensure product subjected to rework is brought back to specification before acceptance.
  • To check finished product and endorse the Inspection Cards as authorisation for removal to the stores and packing area.
  • To conduct a daily check on packing quantities and presentation on locations where final packing is being carried out ensuring that work is labelled correctly, and that cartons carry the correct coding to correspond with the inspection card for traceability.
  • To check gauging at the prescribed intervals and to keep records of all such checks.
  • Receipt, inspection and administration of factored goods as and when required.
  • Administrate BSI forms etc.
  • Internal auditing of Management system.
  • Contact and import to suppliers/contractors requiring quality issues.
  • To carry out H&S duties /monitoring etc as detailed by the Manager.

Person specification:

Ideally, you will have an engineering background as you will be expected to assist supervisors if required to identify and rectify issues of product non-conformity.

You must be confident and be prepared to make and stand by, decisions made on non-conformities identified.

Hours of work:

0800 – 1630, Mon – Thu, 0800 – 1530 Fri.

25 days plus bank holidays.
