CNC Punch Programmer / Operator

Just Recruitment is working with a long-standing manufacturing business based in Sudbury to recruit a 'Plastic Moulding Technician' to join their team.

The key purpose of this role is to set moulding machines under the direct supervision of the Supervisor/Manager and to ensure the smooth running of the production process and guarantee that all products are produced to the stated specifications.

Key duties include:

• Setting the correct tool into the moulding machine as required, using clamps, bolts and hand tools as necessary.
• Setting machine controls to regulate temperature, moulding pressure and cycle time according to the specification/procedures for each job card.
• Ensuring the correct raw materials are added to the hopper and then commencing production.
• Being responsible for ensuring that the machine operator is aware of the necessary work required of them for the correct quality of the finished product.
• Carrying out all repairs and maintenance as required throughout the shift.
• Liaising with the General Manager to ensure the smooth running of the shop floor and organisation of the work schedule.
• Reporting any problems, breakdowns, staffing issues, etc., to the General Manager or Administrator in a timely fashion.
• Ensuring that all machines are set and ready to run for the Operators to commence their shift.
• Ensuring that each operator is completely aware of all aspects of the work that they are given to do and understands the importance of Quality Checking and hourly checking procedures.
• Ensuring that all product is correctly labelled and identifiable, including anything in the regrind room.
• Ensuring that good housekeeping is maintained at all times.

About the role:

Key responsibilities include:

• Design of diesel fuel injection components, predominantly high-pressure pumps.
• Produce creative design solutions to fulfil current and future business needs.
• Interpret sim and test results and propose design improvements and concept solutions.
• Establish networks within the organisation for establishing the feasibility of designs for manufacture, supplier and assembly.
• Have a cost conscience for supplier and manufacturing impacts when developing design solutions.
• Design and prepare concept 3D graphical models.
• Understand detailed engineering drawings, interpreting the latest geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices.
• Contributing to formal and informal design and development reviews at appropriate stages of PDP projects.
• Design and work within high-precision manufacturing technologies required to produce advanced prototypes.
• Be able to make assessments of designs using established DFMEA methods to develop a robust product.

Qualifications and experience include:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a suitable engineering or business discipline.
• 5-10 years’ experience (preferably).

Key skills include:

• Knowledge of DFMEA methodology.
• Ability to operate SolidWorks CAD package.
• Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Knowledge of design analysis tools, Pugh, VA/VE or similar.

This role has a rotating day shift pattern - Monday to Friday, 6.00am to 2.30pm and 9.30am to 6.00pm.

Please note that during busy periods this role will also support production areas of the business that will cover working lates, earlies and weekends. (Shift allowance and full training will be provided.)

Duties will include:

• Checking certificates of analysis
• Completing bulk vehicle and container inspection reports
• Ensure that samples are collected and delivered to the laboratory
• Liaise with hauliers to ensure the efficient operation of the weighbridge
• Weigh in and out of bulk lorries and containers
• Use of computerised systems to include stock transfers, production orders
• Completing all associated paperwork accurately and clearly
