Just Recruitment is working with a growing organisation, with offices based in Colchester and across the South East – that is looking to add a Front End Developer to its team on a permanent basis.

This is an amazing opportunity to join a digital team. This is a varied role which requires you to be inquisitive and responsive to the ever-evolving world of the web as well as an enthusiastic and proactive person. You will be part of a multi-skilled and innovative, integrated design team delivering primarily digital design services.

As a React developer, you will be responsible for the building of new Interactive Systems as well as performing maintenance on existing projects and developing new features. You will work closely with the design team giving feedback on the UX and design phases on the feasibility and possible UX issues.

You will be a great team player and possess the ability to build strong and effective working relationships. You will be confident in your own abilities and be able to proactively influence colleagues and manage their expectations. You will have gravitas and be able to work under your own initiative whilst effectively managing workloads and client timescales. You will have strong communication skills and ensure that internal processes are maintained.

Key duties include:

  • Develop new user-facing features.
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use.
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
  • Optimise websites for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Assure all projects follow security best practices.
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
  • To produce all digital work to the highest standards.
  • To support the growth of our digital team.
  • Challenge and contribute towards the continual evolution of both our Production Process and Development Standards.
  • To continually advance your own knowledge through frequent research.

Key and technical skills required:

  • Solid understanding of OOP (esp. in JavaScript).
  • React.
  • Experience with HTML & CSS.
  • REST APIs.
  • Styled Components.
  • CSS preprocessors (Sass, Less, SCSS).
  • A working knowledge HTML5, CSS3 and SASS, including Pre-Processors, Task Runners, responsive design and graceful degradation techniques.
  • Strong debugging skills with a desire to find the cause of difficult problems.
  • Adobe Creative Suite and Sketch/Figma/XD.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of technical/on-page SEO, Google best-practice and tools including Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics.
  • Strong working knowledge of Git Version Control, and modern deployment processes.
  • Adequate knowledge of the GDPR.
