Just Recruitment is recruiting for a Technical Operator (Blending) to join a well-established, forward-looking, independent family-run company based in Witham.

For this role, you will be working on recipes to create blends for the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries.

Hours: 39 hours/4 days per week.

The overall purpose of the job:

Responsible for running one or more pieces of equipment, being able to demonstrate the technical depth of knowledge and understanding of the equipment. Responsible for maintaining line performance against the plan at the required quality. Application of technical knowledge, mechanical and basic maintenance expertise to fully optimise plant performance. Responsible for leading team operators or agency staff on a line or in a specific area of the business.

Key areas of responsibility:

Operations

  • Accountable for SHE standards for your team and line.
  • Involvement in Behavioural audits.
  • Auditor and L3 for 5S implementation.
  • Book stock onto HICS.
  • EMCS investigations into discrepancies, create new products and customers.
  • Spline inputting.
  • Agency planning and ordering.
  • Forward planning of operation over 2 - 7 day horizon with planners/ CST / hauliers and customers.
  • Write, implement and enforce ISO and BRC procedures.
  • Area 1 -100% @ L3 competent, Area 2 -75% @ L2 and Area 3 – 50% @ L2.
  • Area Manager cover.

SHE (Safety, Health & Environment):

  • Ensure that self and team are capable of safely performing their tasks.
  • Monitor that the team safely perform their tasks. Work to correct any unsafe practices. Immediately address unsafe conditions.
  • Set and maintain excellent housekeeping procedures and practises in Production using 5S as the standard model for workplace organisation.
  • Report accidents and incidents. Ensure personal involvement in investigating accidents/incidents in your areas. Promote SHE activities and target ‘zero accident behaviour’.
  • Conduct risk assessments in your area.
  • Promote and initiate modifications to equipment to ensure safe working.
  • Intervene if employees, contractors or visitors are putting themselves or others at risk.

Quality:

  • Ensure ISO procedures are up to date and followed by team and self. No procedure should be more than 18 months old.
  • Work with others to improve the Housekeeping on site.
  • Understand and ensure the key points of BRC standards and independent hygiene standards are maintained at all times.
  • Perform periodic audits of 5S/BRC/ISO standards within all areas. Record them.
  • Perform and record tests on products as required.
  • Report all non-conformances (complete paperwork as required) e.g. QA 30s & PDRs.
  • Ensure repack and rework notes are completed.
  • Guide Auditors and Visitors around the plant when required.
  • Member of HACCP Team. Maintain HACCP principles.
