Four videos that could prevent you from being scammed!
Cyber fraud is now a multi-billion £ business for organised criminals. These characters are targeting both businesses and individuals and are successfully stealing money from us every day. Some of that fraud involves using sophisticated software to infiltrate systems, the well-publicised attack on BA is an example. Some of the fraud relies on corrupt employees selling data, but a lot of the fraud works by the crooks persuading us to part with information or to initiate a banking transaction that we assume is legitimate but actually sends money to their accounts. Needless to say that those accounts are closed shortly after the money is transferred.
The 3 videos below were produced by RBS / NatWest and illustrate how 3 very simple, but very effective, frauds are perpetrated every day. I encourage you to get any employee in your business responsible for making regular payments to watch them. You do need to have the sound on to follow the stories, but I promise you that they are worth watching.
The fourth video was created by CIFAS, and illustrates how vulnerable we can be if we don’t take our social media security settings seriously. Quite frightening stuff and anyone who uses Facebook, or other SM channels should watch it.
