Employee Ownership Day 28.06.19: the countdown begins

In the run up to Employee Ownership Day, Just Recruitment will be distilling its expertise on the topic

In December 2017, Just Recruitment Group Ltd made a bold business move.

    ...it was time to empower the next generation, to reward the people who had worked hard to build the brand into a successful, multi-branch, recruitment agency...  

The company had been privately owned by its founder Jenny Wrightson since 1983. But Jenny saw that it was time to empower the next generation, to reward the people who had worked hard to build the brand into a successful, multi-branch, recruitment agency that turns over in excess of £15m per year.

She saw that the time was coming when she would want to hand over the reins of her business, so that it could continue to grow for the next 35 years.

So Jenny did something that remains unusual among SME owners: she transferred ownership of Just Recruitment to its employees.

Now, every single member of the workforce owns 3pc of the business. They all have a stake, no matter how long they’ve worked there or how senior they are.

As a result, Just Recruitment has seen efficiency and productivity increase, staff retention improve, and customer service reach ever-greater heights.

What is more, members of the workforce are seizing the opportunity to drive the company forward. They’re rising to the challenge of steering the business. They’re dreaming dreams, identifying opportunities for growth, and developing skills so that they’re able to carry Just Recruitment into the next phase of its life.

On Friday, 28 June 2019, the UK celebrates Employee Ownership Day. It just so happens that Just Recruitment will be issuing its half-year trading results that day, too. And it’s no surprise that the figures look great, given the many advantages associated with employee ownership.

To celebrate both events, we’ll be on a countdown to Employee Ownership Day all next week. We’ve filmed a documentary reflecting on our experience. It features interviews with Just’s senior management team and with our staff.

It tells the story of employee ownership, helping other companies develop their understanding and identify the benefits.

We’ll release extracts from the video throughout next week, accompanied by a series of informative articles about employee ownership. The documentary will receive its full online premiere on Friday, 28 June 2019 at 10am.

Due to expansion Just Recruitment is recruiting for a Slide (workshop) Technician on behalf of a company based in Braintree, Essex.

Duties include:

  • Maintain all company vehicles in line with legal requirements and schedules, inspections, MOT, Insurance, tax etc; utilising the Fleetcheck software to show vehicle and driver status to facilitate the smooth operation of the fleet.
  • Maintain a vehicle file for all company vehicle documentation, including V5, contract hire agreements and any other relevant documentation.
  • Monitory and manage driver utilisation of the Fleetchecker vehicle inspection app and reporting functionality. Organise defect rectification in a timely manner.
  • Download and monitor all drivers’ tachographs, the vehicle download data, send to external agency for checking and monitory all drivers hours in line with the legal requirements, EU driving legislation, Great British driving rules and working time directive to ensure that the business and driving staff operate within the legal framework.
  • Ensure all dart charges, congestion charges and other tolls are promptly settled to negate any ongoing unforeseen charges.

Skills required:

  • Experience and knowledge of fleet management, logistics planning in accordance with legislative constraints.
  • Solid computer skills including Word, Excel and Outlook, along with good background IT knowledge to learn bespoke software programs.
  • Excellent communications skills, telephone manner and written word.

Hours Mon - Fri, 7.30am - 12.30pm.
