Why Just Recruitment supports EACH

EACH Why Just is involved

Just Recruitment has been raising money for EACH since 2016. One of the company's directors explains why

By Peter Foy

We have recently announced that Just Recruitment is sponsoring EACH's forthcoming "Happy Christmas Ipswich" event at the Regent Theatre in Ipswich.

This evening of comedy, hosted by Griff Rhys Jones, will raise money to continue EACH's valuable work throughout the region.

Just Recruitment Group Ltd has supported EACH since 2016. To date, our team has raised more than £20,000.

Our consultants have leapt from aeroplanes, run through mud and paint, cycled from Ipswich to Cambridge, entered quizzes, sold cakes and calendars and even used EACH collection tins as swear boxes (a very good earner, I have to say)!

So why do we do it?

Well first because it's fun. The regular quizzes are a popular social event for our team. The colleagues who took part in their first sky dive for the charity achieved personal goals and overcame some serious fears. These activities help lighten the mood in the office. They give us a sense of cohesion and purpose.

Our consultants have leapt from aeroplanes, run through mud and paint, cycled from Ipswich to Cambridge,...

Our support for EACH is also a key part of our Corporate Social Responsibility policy. We are firm believers that businesses need to have clear ethical roots, as you can read here.

These two goals could have been achieved by supporting any number of worthwhile causes. But as a group of people we feel a special bond with EACH: an affinity that goes beyond fund raising.

In the 36 years since it was founded, Just Recruitment has been a proudly local company. Most of our clients, candidates and colleagues are from the East Anglia community. Of course we support clients across the country but our roots are very much in this region. It is where we belong.

Our success has come about because of our close connection with the communities in which we work. We are a product of these communities. Most of us were born and raised in Essex, Suffolk or Cambridgeshire. Our kids attend the local schools. We use the local NHS.

Just Recruitment didn't come to the area because there was a vibrant economy here. Our success was spawned by that economy, and has further contributed to its flourishing.

Similarly, EACH didn't move into the area from somewhere else. It grew out of the community's desire and determination to meet a need, to bring comfort and support to young people with life-limiting illness, and to their loved ones.

Consider the Treehouse, EACH’s Ipswich hospice. It is built on land donated by an anonymous local benefactor. Much of the money for its build came from individual donations, and its operational funding relies heavily on local individuals and local companies like Just Recruitment.

But while the Treehouse is an important resource for the charity, many of the services EACH provides are delivered in people's homes. It is out there, in the community, bringing light and life to people where they live.

That's the bond we share. A colleague once suggested that if Just Recruitment were a stick of rock the word running through the middle would be "community". I reckon the same could be said of EACH.

And that's why we're so proud to work with the charity. We belong together. We belong in this community.
