About the role

Just Recruitment is working with a growing business based in Haverhill looking to add a Scheduler and Service Administrator to its team.

As a Scheduler and Service Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the company’s services. You will manage the scheduling of engineers, coordinate service calls, and provide administrative support to ensure the company receive timely and professional service.

Duties include:

  • Plan and assign maintenance and service jobs to engineers, optimising schedules for efficiency.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs and coordinate urgent service requests.
  • Act as the first point of contact for clients, handling inquiries and service requests professionally.
  • Keep clients informed of scheduled visits, changes, and updates.
  • Address client concerns promptly and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of service visits, repairs, and client interactions in the CRM system.
  • Prepare and distribute job sheets, quotes, and service reports.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Proven experience in scheduling, administration, or a similar role.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Installation & Maintenance: Install, maintain, and service fire alarm systems, ensuring they are fully operational and meet industry standards.
  • System Testing: Conduct routine testing, inspection, and fault diagnosis on fire alarm systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with fire safety regulations (BS 5839 or relevant local standards).
  • Repairs & Upgrades: Diagnose and repair faults in fire alarm systems, replace faulty equipment, and carry out system upgrades as needed.

  • On-call Support: Participate in an on-call rota for emergency repairs and service calls outside normal working hours.

Qualifications and experience required:

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Fire Alarm Service Engineer or similar role.
  • Thorough knowledge of fire alarm systems (e.g., addressable and conventional systems).
  • Familiarity with relevant fire safety standards (e.g., BS 5839 or equivalent).
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Valid driver’s licence.

Desirable:

  • Certification in fire alarm systems (e.g., FIA, BAFE, or equivalent).
  • Experience with other fire protection systems (e.g., emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, etc.).
  • Electrical qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).

Working conditions:

  • Primarily field-based with travel to customer sites.
  • Occasional work at heights or in confined spaces may be required.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation for emergency services.
