About the role

Just Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer for a company based in Haverhill, Suffolk.

The company design, develop, prototype and high-volume manufacture for its clients and their special applications worldwide.

Its products address customer challenges related to custom optical connectivity and cable assembly solutions. These include hermetically sealed optical sub-systems, high-efficiency laser and detector coupling. Applications range from traditional fibre optic networking to industrial, nuclear, space and medical applications.

Your Role:

To support the Manufacturing of existing products and processes to meet stringent customer expectations of timescales, cost and reliability.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • To oversee and provide direct Engineering support to the manufacturing team
  • To ensure products are manufactured to an agreed specification
  • Create and update documentation for the manufacture of products (i.e. work instructions and process cards)
  • To assist in the training of all personnel
  • Actively working to improve manufacturing yields and product reliability
  • Support on-time transfer of products and services to manufacturing
  • To participate in continuous improvement activities to deliver process time and manufacturing cost reduction
  • Commissioning and maintenance of existing tooling/equipment, and where appropriate, identify new equipment needs
  • Attend customer and supplier liaison meetings as required, providing technical assistance to customers and Sales
  • Drive problem-solving Task Teams.
  • Provide the Quality department with engineering support on RMA’s, vendor evaluation and all quality reports when required

Knowledge, Experience, and skills required:

Essential:

  • Degree in an engineering discipline
  • Hands-on with a pragmatic approach and excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and influencing skills
  • Good analytical skills, data analysis and presentation
  • Sound grasp of statistical techniques
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively and efficiently
  • Strong team player yet capable of independent and creative thinking
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as an Engineer in a high-tech Manufacturing Engineering environment, conducting process control and improvement activities

Desirable:

  • Experience with fibre optic products manufacturing and testing
  • Experience in reliability testing & quality control
  • Experience in technology transfer and related support documentation

Just Recruitment is assisting a growing organisation on the outskirts of Haverhill, looking to add a Multi-Skilled Engineering Technician to its production team.

The key purpose of the role is to efficiently deal with any breakdown, Electrical or Mechanical, involving production plant machinery and site services. Also, to undertake the installation of new equipment and carrying out preventative planned maintenance duties to ensure all equipment and site services are maintained to an efficient and safe standard.

Key duties include:

  • Breakdown repair, maintenance and servicing of the processing plant, machinery, and site services
  • A methodical approach in fault finding on both electrical and mechanical devices
  • Effectively respond to reactive, predictive and PPM issues
  • Working alongside a team of skilled engineers
  • Installation and commissioning of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • To adhere to Company Rules, Health and Safety/Environmental Standards and Practices
  • To attend training and continuous development opportunities as required
  • Maintenance, examination, and testing of existing equipment to ensure correct operation and safe working conditions are achieved

Key requirements for this role:

  • GCSE Mathematics & English.
  • Formal qualification required to safely undertake any mechanical and electrical work - City and Guilds as a minimum.
  • Successful completion of a recognised engineering apprenticeship
  • Additional qualifications required carrying out certain tasks that require a legal certification from an authorised body e.g. abrasive wheels replacement, Pat testing, electrical testing of circuits
  • 5 years of hands-on experience gained in a manufacturing/processing environment

Working hours are on a rotational shift basis - 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm Monday to Friday.
