Plastic Moulding Technician

About the role

Just Recruitment is working with a long-standing manufacturing business based in Sudbury to recruit a 'Plastic Moulding Technician' to join their team.

The key purpose of this role is to set moulding machines under the direct supervision of the Supervisor/Manager and to ensure the smooth running of the production process and guarantee that all products are produced to the stated specifications.

Key duties include:

  • Setting the correct tool into the moulding machine as required, using clamps, bolts and hand tools as necessary.
  • Setting machine controls to regulate temperature, moulding pressure and cycle time according to the specification/procedures for each job card.
  • Ensuring the correct raw materials are added to the hopper and then commencing production.
  • Being responsible for ensuring that the machine operator is aware of the necessary work required of them for the correct quality of the finished product.
  • Carrying out all repairs and maintenance as required throughout the shift.
  • Liaising with the General Manager to ensure the smooth running of the shop floor and organisation of the work schedule.
  • Reporting any problems, breakdowns, staffing issues, etc., to the General Manager or Administrator in a timely fashion.
  • Ensuring that all machines are set and ready to run for the Operators to commence their shift.
  • Ensuring that each operator is completely aware of all aspects of the work that they are given to do and understands the importance of Quality Checking and hourly checking procedures.
  • Ensuring that all product is correctly labelled and identifiable, including anything in the regrind room.
  • Ensuring that good housekeeping is maintained at all times.

Key requirements for this role include:

This is a Monday to Friday role, working on a split shift schedule.

About the role:

As a Production Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in supporting daily manufacturing operations, working closely with the Production Manager to ensure targets are met and processes run smoothly. This is a rotational double day shift role (6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm), and you’ll need to be flexible to support business demands, including occasional overtime.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervise daily production and packing operations
  • Ensure machinery is operated safely and maintained properly
  • Lead and motivate a small team, delegating tasks and managing performance

  • Assist in the procurement of indirect materials, raw materials and packaging materials necessary for production and projects, ensuring timely delivery, cost effectiveness and good quality.

  • Monitor inventory levels, analyse demand forecasts and generate purchase orders to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, industry regulations and quality standards for products and documentation.
  • Analyse procurement and inventory data using Excel to identify trends, opportunities for cost savings, and areas for process improvement.

Role requirements include:

  • A commercial mindset - driven to manage costs and achieve great results in negotiations with suppliers, and implement improvements to the company’s processes to create efficient ways of working.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented with the ability to manage your workload in alignment with business priorities.
  • Ability to maintain and build good working relationships, internally and externally, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experienced in using Microsoft Office applications, including setting up and using Excel for basic data analysis (ability to use formulas a plus).
